HLTSS00068 Occupational First Aid Skill Set
The HLTSS00068 Occupational First Aid Skill Set course provides a set of skills to establish, maintain and facilitate the provision of appropriate first aid in a workplace environment, including the skills to provide an emergency first aid response in the event of an emergency.
The HLTSS00068 Occupational First Aid Skill Set course comprises learning four (4) different First Aid courses – and meets industry requirements to perform the role and responsibilities required of an Occupational First Aider.
The comprehensive course training comprises of pre-course learning and practical training plus face-to-face training hours within the scope of learning each of the below courses;
HLTAID014 Provide advanced first aid
HLTAID015 Provide advanced resuscitation and oxygen therapy*
HLTAID016 Manage first aid services and resources
Note: Units marked with* have prerequisite HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
Participants must hold the following unit of competency HLTAID011. Students must be at least 14 years of age at the time of attendance. Important note: In order to issue an accredited certificate CPR must be performed on the floor with no exemptions.
Clothing: We suggest that you wear comfortable casual clothing, as the practical nature of the demonstrations and practice may possibly require bending, kneeling and lying on the floor. The face to face training is 2-3 days and covers both theory and practical aspects of the HLTAID014 Provide advanced first aid, HLTAID015 Provide advanced resuscitation and HLTAID016 Manage first aid services and resources.
Students are required to arrive at least 10 minutes prior to the course commencement or will be refused entry.
There is a short multiple choice quiz at the end of the training covering the course theory learnt that day. Students will also be assessed on practical skills as a requirement to pass the course.
The certificate is valid for three (3) years from the completion date. The Code of Practice and Australian Resuscitation Council recommends that cardiopulmonary resuscitation skills are refreshed annually.
