Course Summary

Our Workplace Fire Safety Training demonstrates how various portable fire protection products are used in emergency situations. Our training course will be fully customised for your workplace and will demonstrate the use of a portable fire extinguisher (2 types), a fire hose reel and a fire blanket. All work in this area must be completed in accordance with relevant legislative, industry, customer and organisational requirements, including work health and safety (WHS) policies and procedures.

Healthcorp’s comprehensive fire awareness and demonstration of Fire Equipment training will provide participants with the knowledge, skill and confidence to use the fire safety equipment within their workplace during an emergency. The course covers demonstrating the use of a portable fire extinguisher – both CO2 and water – plus the effective and safe use of a fire blanket. All work in this area must be completed in accordance with relevant legislative, industry, customer and organisational requirements, including work health and safety (WHS) policies and procedures.

  • Determine the classification and fire type
    Demonstrate usage of fire extinguishers safely according to the manufacturers’ instructions, and in accordance with relevant WHS and workplace policies and procedures and select the appropriate fire extinguisher to attack the fire.
  • Demonstrate correct usage of a fire hose reel
    Demonstrate usage of the hose reel safely according to manufacturers’ instructions and in accordance with relevant WHS and workplace policies and procedures and train participants in the approved sequence to turn off water, check the hose reel for leaks and rewind the hose reel correctly after use.
  • Demonstrate correct usage of a fire blanket
    Demonstrate usage of the fire blanket safely according to manufacturers’ instructions and in accordance with the relevant WHS and workplace policies and procedures.

There are no pre-requisites for the Workplace Fire Safety Training. Students must be at least 16 years of age at the time of attendance.

Clothing: We suggest that you wear comfortable casual clothing. Pants and flat shoes are recommended.

Heathcorp’s Workplace Fire Safety Training is available in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and Australia-wide.

The face to face training is 2 hours and covers both theory and practical aspects of fire awareness and the use of fire extinguishers. Students are required to arrive at least 10 minutes prior to the course commencement or will be refused entry.

There is a short multiple choice quiz at the end of the training covering the course theory learnt that day. Students will also be assessed on practical skills as a requirement to pass the course.

Once enrolled, Healthcorp will email students a Workplace Fire Safety Training booking confirmation with venue details and maps, course requirements and terms of enrolment.
